State of the Nation

If you don’t know Al Letson, you need to meet him. That may be challenging after the event this weekend, so make plans to attend. He will soon be very busy as he is starting production on his new national radio show on NPR called State of the Re:UNION. Letson recently won the Corporation for Public Broadcasting’s Public Radio Talent Quest and he is about to embark on a new part of his career. (go to stateofthereunion.com for more details about the show) This national show will be produced out of Jacksonville, so take this chance to get on board early and see what the show will be about and meet the man responsible for the concept at the launch party this weekend.

State of the Re:UNION Launch Party

It’ll be a fantastic affair, and very Al-centric. The concept behind the show is to highlight the aspects of different communities around America that work together to make this country what it is. A large part of that mission includes excavating the culture of the communities the show visits. In that spirit, Al has curated this event to showcase some of his favorite parts of Jacksonville culture. See the work of some of Al’s favorite artists (Marsha Hatcher and Princess Rashid) as well as a short film by Patrick Barry, music by Willie Evans Jr, and food by the Burrito Gallery. We will also be entertained by David Luckin, host of Electro Lounge. You may even be able to request a Grand Alfie from the bar.
