Our usual stuff is incredibly unusual

From the RAMfather

Hi --

I was just printing out the program for the Riverside Arts Market for
tomorrow, and I realized that this is so cool I need to share it with
my friends.

Although RAM will have all of the usual great stuff tomorrow -- the
huge farmer's market with fresh veggies and peaches, over 125 artists
with hand-made works of art, 25 different kinds of fresh bread, our
fabulous food court with international flavors, and 5 hours of free
concerts in our riverfront amphitheatre -- our usual stuff is
incredibly unusual.

I mean, in one day,
where else
on earth are you going to get :

a human volcano
a speed-painter
belly dancers
a human statue
a hula gorilla with a hotdog luau
a national champion juggler
a spray paint wizard
a pan piper
a one-man band
virtuoso children playing violins and cellos
and clowns, balloons, magicians, and tarot card readers
all for free!

Bollywood comes to RAM and the gourds go wild! TOMORROW! FREE!

 

Riverside Arts Market! Strawberries, Blueberries, Peaches, and Firebreathing Dudes anchor awarding winning arts market this weekend.   Big RAM tomorrow. 10am to 4pm. Free. Loads of free parking. I hope you can come check it out. Bring the kids.   We've got a farmers row that is bursting with fruits and vegetables. The Sweet Grass Dairy is back with a truckload of craft cheeses.   Entertainment is our middle name. Sit on the river and jam. Take a walking tour of our little weekly streetperformer festival. Shop in our little art bodegas along the way. Come hungry because we have the best street food vendors around, representing many different cultures at surprising low prices. From fresh squeezed lemonade to wood fired pizza to locally roasted espressos to bridge chillin' smoothies.   We've got very unique arts and crafts and craft foods and breads too. All types of art too and new artists appear all the time. I know because I have to direct them in during load in and load out. Thankfully we have what Arts Market Digest calls "The best traffic flow map in the business."tm   Bollywod Hits the Fringe!   Featuring: Embroidered & sequin colorful skirts, scarves and tops. Handicrafts made of clay, terracotta or wood. Jewelery based on traditional folk art but with a modern twist. Traditional Indian folk paintings, tapestries, wall hangings and cushion covers. Feel Like Its Time to Give Back?   The City of Jacksonville is about to announce a great new program in Community Centers and Parks in some of the neighborhoods in Jacksonville identified as high-crime neighborhoods. The Saturday Night Lights (Saturdays, June 18 to August 7) project keeps the centers open and offers programming to youth, young adults, and families in these neighborhoods. Programming ranges from movies to bike repair workshops. One program that they would like to see flourish is art and craft workshops. I thought our vendors and community might be able to help here. If you are interested in learning more about Saturday Night Lights and possibly being an artist with a project (or some other great idea) please contact Robert Hall as soon as possible.
