Tony Rodrigues, one of the finest painters working in Jacksonville, will be exhibiting his latest works at nullspace gallery (109 East Bay Street). The show, entitled The Sweet Mundane, opens on Friday, October 21 at 6 pm and will run through November 13th.
Tony's paintings are an enchanting blend of comforting, painterly images juxtaposed with line drawings from instructional manuals that he collects. Changing the context and combining the disjointed images creates an entirely new layer of meaning. The works which harken back to a simpler time, are pleasing and unsettling, simultaneously. Tony's work has been exhibited in galleries around the country, at our own Museum of Contemporary Art, and at The Cummer Museum. It is a special honor to have him at nullspace.
