Jacksonville's First 'Cash Mob' Saturday April 7th.

Please join Mike Field and posse and encourage your friends to come to Jacksonville's first Cash Mob Saturday April 7th.   Meetup at Burrito Gallery at 1pm to find out what location we'll be mobbing.  Expect to spend a minimum of $10.  Afterwards beginning at 2:30pm we'll meet back at Burrito Gallery for drinks and socializing.  Support two local businesses at once!!!

What is a cash mob?  Well, it's good kind of mob for your city.  More specifically a cash mob is a group of people who assemble at a local business and all buy items from that business. The purpose of these mobs is to support both the local businesses and the overall community.  Think of the Cash Mob as a "shop local" flash mob created to spur local economic stimulus!  The ten dollars demonstrates your personal commitment and effort to support a local independent retailer while having fun doing it as a part of a larger group.

The first Cash Mobs sprung up in Buffalo and Cleveland around the same time last fall.  The organizers intent was to provide a financial and morale boost to a local business owner while giving the Mobbers the opportunity to meet new people during the events.  Now it's Jacksonville's turn to show our dedication to our local economy on April 7th.

There are three rules for a cash mob:

1.  Spend $10-$20 at a local store

2.  Meet three new people

3.  HAVE FUN!!!

When we buy local, from local businesspeople, wealth is both created and retained in the community.  When we shop local, it is as much about making an investment in our communities and economies as it is about getting things we normally would have bought elsewhere.

Here are some quotes from merchants who participated in recent Cash Mobs

"We did the equivalent of a Christmas shopping day in 45 minutes."

- John Reburn, in Roanoke, Virginia

"We saw an over 600% increase in transactions from the previous weekend, over doubling of the recommended purchase of $10 in goods, and over 135 visitors."

- Peggy Winfield, in Mt Clements, MI

Think of what an impact we can all have on our community by simply choosing to shop local.

Please spread the word and join us Saturday April 7th 1pm at Burrito Gallery located at 21 East Adams Street in downtown Jacksonville, FL.  As always, on street metered parking is FREE on the weekends!

Jax Cash Mob will invade a local business with customers for an hour.  You will have the opportunity to buy cool stuff(the secret location is a really cool place), support local business downtown, have fun in the urban core and meet cool people.

Meet at Burrito Gallery at 1pm.  The cash mob location will be unveiled.  We'll spend $10-20 at the location, and after an hour or so come back to Burrito Gallery for socializing and post-mob drinks.

This trend is sweeping the nation as more and more people realize the value of supporting local businesses.
