Swim Across the St. Johns 2012
Fleming Island Marina, Orange Park to County Dock, Mandarin
Swimmers, Crew and Friends,
Thank you so much for your participation. Details for the Swim Across the St. Johns on Saturday morning, July 7 are attached. Please read the brief which provides most of what you need to know for Saturday including schedule and directions.
We are looking for a person good with a camera to photograph the launch at Fleming Island (8:45am) and the finish at County Dock (10:45am).

Kayaks Crew: Mike Addison, Paramedic with St. Johns County

Swimmers and crew, please make a minimum of a $30 contribution to help cover the boat and fuel costs. To donate online please go HERE and click the donate button on the right. It is preferable to do so online rather than swim day. Please also print, sign and bring the attached waiver.
What we are trying to achieve:
· Provide a venue of safe open water swimming courses in the St. Johns.
· Demonstrate safety as we work with the City of Jacksonville to sanction St. Johns Open Water Swimming events and St Johns River centric triathlons.
· These swims provide a dress rehearsal for the USMS sanctioned Race Across the St. Johns in October.
· Great practice for cross current, tidal and 5K swims.

Friends and family can see us off at Fleming Island Marina and should be on the outermost dock by 8:45. Another option is to be at County Dock around 10:45 to watch the swimmers come in. Additional boats and kayaks welcome!

St. Johns Downtown Expedition Swim Opportunities – 4 Bridge Swim
1.1 miles through Main St Bridge, to Acosta Bridge, under the Railroad Bridge to the Fuller Warren. If you are a swimmer, boater, paddle boarder or kayaker and would like to swim or escort, these are the optimum times in the next 2 weeks. Sunset is approx 8:30.

Distance: 4 Miles, 6 K,
Category: Middle Distance Swim
Timing: 2.5 hours before slack water before flood tide at Mandarin Point.
Course: Fleming Island Marina to County Dock in Mandarin. (precisely 3.86 miles) It takes approximately 2 hours to swim the course. Depending on boat arrangements we may do an orientation cruise 30 minutes before meet time. Note that the race is on 10/20.
Group Practice Swims – Maximum of 6 Swimmers

Race Across the St. Johns (providing all permits are secured) – Maximum of 50 Swimmers

St. Johns 11 Mile, 2 Bridge Swim
Distance: 11 Miles, 17 K
Category: Middle Distance Swim
Timing: 1 hour after the beginning of ebb tide measured at Mandarin Point.
Course: County Dock in Mandarin, under the Buckman Bridge to the Fuller Warren Bridge by RAM. (precisely 10.7 miles). It takes 4-4.25 hours to swim the course.
